In Malta Antique pair chairs

Probably made in Malta . A late 19th/ early 20th century pair of Italian Savonarola X – frame style chairs. They are derived from Imperial Roman curule chariot or magistrate seats / latterly as revival Florentine style chairs. These chairs have removable backs but do not fold , as the original chairs did. The chairs have carved detail and gold effect leaf trim.
