FISHER WOMAN cockle dredger ENGLISH painting

In Malta. SMALL . A good English mid Victorian oil on artist’s panel ; in an original fitted , excellent glazed ,swept moulded frame , with behind the glass a real gold leaf ,water gilded , gesso and bole primed insert . Titled ‘ the fisher girl ‘ according to title on rear label , an indistinct attribution on the same label. A signed painter’s monogram on the bottom left of front of oil. The subject is probably a mud / tidal cockle dredger ‘picker ‘as the net is partly flat. It could be one of many places in Scotland , England or I suppose Wales . The painting’s back shows a Christies’s vendor consignment sticker. The frame , is gesso on pine with painted gilded detail.
