JEAN HOUEL  (1735-1813), painter and engraver specialized in landscapes. French Enlightener who moved to Rome where he attended the French Academy, he got to know Italy, especially Magna Graecia and Greek Sicily, whose itineraries he followed in his exceptional Voyage , destined to become one of the capital works of the era of the Grand Tours.
